There are many things we don't know about public figures, but for some reason we end up finding stuff about them or someone else tell us, which makes our curiosity grow taking us to investigate more ending up with relevant and irrelevant knowledge.
This was the case with Chabelo!, a Pee-wee Herman-like character created bye Xavier López Rodríguez, who at 79 years-old, still plays him on Mexican TV after 60 years.
Here are some things that you probably didn't know about this popular Mexican culture icon:
He wasn't born in Mexico
Contrary to what many people think, he is originally from Chicago Illinois, where his parents who are from Leon Guanajuato, moved.
He was in the army
He was recruited in a San Diego base for three months and he was about to participate in the Korean War, but he was discharged ahead of time.
His artistic name comes from a story
His character was born when at the beginning of his career when
he had the opportunity of participating during a screening of a show called Carrusel Musical , telling a joke about a kid who had that name.

He has only been absent on his Sunday show a total of 7 times
The show has been transmitted without interruptions since 1998, with the exceptions of those few times he has been absent due to special programming or health problems; he has even appeared on wheelchairs to able to move after he was in a car accident.
He is a doctor
He studied Medicine in Mexico and practiced for 4 years in a private sanatorium, of which he was a partner.
He has recorded over 30 kid's albums
Among some of his most famous songs there's "El reino del reves", "Mamacita, donde esta Santa Claus? And "Garabato colorado", classic themes that he performs on his TV show.
He has a collection of over 2,400 frogs
We don't know for sure why, we would like to think that he just really likes them and we are positive that that's something you didn't
know.

Chespirito was older than Chabelo
