Popular Tijuana Restaurant Sanctioned by Health Authorities

Bad Seafood is to blame for case of Typhoid Fever

TIJUANA.- One of the most recognized restaurants in Tijuana’s culinary zone, Tabule, was shut down yesterday afternoon after accusations of serving contaminated food emerged.

Public Health Authorities visited the restaurant after a customer came down with a case of Typhoid Fever after dining at the establishment. Authorities determined that lack of sanitary conditions and fumigation were to blame, and the restaurant will have two weeks to resolve these deficiencies.

While the restaurant may remain open, it is not allowed to sell food. Tabule is well known for its wide variety of dishes offered ranges from sushi to select cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood, as well as cocktails. The restaurant has yet to issue a statement in relation to the sanction.

Tyhphoid Fever is a life-threatening illness caused by the bacterium Salmonella Typhi caused by the ingestion of contaminated food or water. Also known as Gastric Fever, the illness causes severe fever, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, along with other symptoms, if left unattended major complications such as intestinal haemorrhage, delirium, emaciation, and even potential fatality.

For those that haven’t visited Tabule’s location in Tijuana, you may recall their San Diego outfit located on 4th Avenue in the Gaslamp quarter, which is reportedly no longer in operation and did not publicly announce why.
