TIJUANA - Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente have one firmly set on the upcoming Apertura 2014 season and have already made news with the signings of Venezualan Juan Arango and the return of Alfredo "Chango" Moreno. But the Xolos also have one eye firmly set on the future and continue to grow its youth system.
The Xoloitzcuintles do not only recruit players for their first team, but also for the U-20 squad. Paul Arriola was once brought in as a reinforcement for the U-20 team and has found success with the first team. Amando Moreno was another player who was recruited and brought into the U-20 squad in the middle of last season.
Club Tijuana continue this visionary look into the future and secured the signature of another American youngster; John Requejo Jr who was set to join UCLA soccer team when Xolos came offering a professional contract. Requejo Jr. opted for the pro team in Mexico over the University side.
John Requejo Jr. joins the previously mentioned Paul Arriola and Amando Moreno as young American talents that Xolos takes due to the fact that they were without professional contracts in the United States.
