TIJUANA - Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles will finish out their group stage participation in the CONCACAF Champions League (CCL) tonight, and with it set off an intense week where theyll be playing four games in eight days.
Club Tijuana vs Club Deportivo Victoria is scheduled for tonight Thursday September 26 at 7:00PM at the Estadio Caliente. Starting at 5:00PM team representatives will be collecting help baskets for the hurricane victims in Mexico and in exchange will give away tickets to the match.
Xolos are already qualified to the knockout stages of the CCL and will send out an alternate team with the main starters preparing themselves for Sundays game in Puebla where theyll be looking for their first win on the road of the season.
Despite resting the majority of their starters Club Tijuana will still be a far favorite to come out with the win, and by many goals. Xolos will be looking to reach their 10th undefeated international match as well as their 10th undefeated home game.
Club Deportivo Victorias qualification into the CCL was an accomplishment in itself, but the Hondurans have to had a good go of it so far in the competition. From their first two matches they have gathered two losses and are officially eliminated.
This game will serve as the official presentation of United States Mens National Team (USMNT) striker Herculez Gomez with the Xolos. Gomez re-injured his knee while playing in the CONCACAF Gold Cup with USMNT and has not had a chance to debut for Club Tijuana yet. Xolos manager Jorge Almiron mentioned that the American striker will have 45 minutes of game time tonight.
