The president of Mongolia, Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, reported through his website a request made from North Korea for help with food, due to a possible shortage in that country.
The petition was signed by the North Korean ambassador Hong Gyu, where he also mentioned that North Korea could face severe food shortages, and called for Mongolia to consider the possibilities of helping them out.
Its been about 20 years now since North Korea began receiving aid from China and the United Nations.
The tensions that North Korea now faces with South Korea and the United States have also affected its stability, due to that their behavior has closed the doors for them from the cooperation of the international community. It is difficult to attract investors and create new jobs while being at the brink of war.
