San Diego Boca FC dropped a game that they should have won, or at a bare minimum, tied, as they played, on Sunday, a road match against local division rival, SD Flash, losing 2-1 in the closing minutes of the match.
The Flash came out the gate strong in the first ten minutes playing at home, dominating the play on the field, creating many early scoring chances. Boca soon enough caught their breath, settled in and started play its possession-style football and countered with numerous opportunities themselves.
The first goal in the afternoon came off a corner kick, with Boca unable to mark the Flash's forwards, giving the Flash a 1-0 lead midway into the first half. However, Boca immediately reacted and put a string of nice passes together, ultimately culminating in a goal from the right side by Cameron Roget. Both sides were locked back and forth, with fierce battles in the middle of the field.
Boca missed a couple clear shots in front of goal, and held fast until the final few seconds of the match. A cross into the box bounced around until finally the Flash were able to capitalize knocking the ball across the line.
Head Coach Papo Santos commented, "This game should have been won or tied and it's a unfortunate result in that we played well for most of the match and to come out with no points is disappointing".
"Our players left their heart out on the field."
