Baja California was the Mexican champion of the 2024 Bacchus International Wines and Vermouth Competition, as they won 32 of the 52 medals obtained by Mexico, demonstrating the quality of wines in the region.

Bacchus is the only competition in Spain that is part of VINOFED (federation consisting of the most renowned wine competitions worldwide) and it is recognized by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (IOVW) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Diet, and the Environment (MAGRAMA) of Spain.

In this edition, there were more than 1,900 wines coming from 18 countries such as Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Mexico, Chile, Australia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Bolivia, Peru, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Tunisia, and Germany.

The 2019 Roganto Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded with the Great Golden Bacchus and was recognized as the Best Mexican Wine.

Another Baja Californian wine that stood out was Decantos with El Peor Vino del Mundo Blanco 2021.

In the Golden Bacchus category, 23 wine labels were the highlights. Among them there were La Lomita, Monte Xanic, Corona del Valle, Chateau Camou, Concierto Enológico, La Carrodilla, Xecué, Las Nubes, Hacienda Guadalupe, L.A. Cetto, Bajalupano, and Pedro Domecq.

In the Silver Bacchus category, Baja California won 7 medals with different labels by Hacienda y Cava Martlot, Roganto, Rolu, Vinícola Emeve, Monte Xanic, and L.A. Cetto.

Besides the 32 medals obtained by Baja California, other Mexican states were also awarded: Guanajuato with 1 great gold, 7 gold, and 1 silver medals; Aguascalientes with 2 gold medals; Coahuila with 5 gold and 5 silver medals; Querétaro with 1 gold and 1 silver medals; and Zacatecas with 1 silver medal.

Baja California has amazing landscapes that range from the ocean to desert and has become the Capital of Mexican Wine as it has more than 70% of the wine production in the country.

Known for its seven winemaking valleys, each one with its unique characteristics that favor wine high-quality wine production, the region continues to stand out in international competitions.
