Centro Cultural Tijuana invites families, young readers, and literature fans to this book party where they'll immerse themselves into a world of science fiction and fantasy.
This week, Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) inaugurated a new edition of the "¡DING! Una fiesta hecha de libros Vol. III" event. Comic book writer Bernardo Fernández, also known as "Bef", and illustrator Juan Gedovius were the godfathers of this literary celebration.
This event is currently open from 11 AM to 8 PM until Sunday, April 21 and it is located at the CECUT terrace, which has been decorated and labeled with several different names to make your stay much more entertaining. Among these there's the "Restaurant at the End of the World" and the "Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy" reading room.
This book festival is meant for and dedicated to children, but also first-time readers, people who could be 7 or 60 years old who are reading for the first time. One of the main goals of this event, according to Bernardo Fernández, is to promote the vice of literature.
During the press conference of “¡DING! Una fiesta hecha de libros, Vol. III", a conversation regarding the need to make children and new readers get closer to this type of spaces took place. in which Luis Arturo Salmerón, Irene Andrade, Bernardo Fernández BEF, Juan Gedovius, María Benítez, and Jorge Estrada all participated.
At the beginning of this event, the Director of CECUT, Dr. Vianka R. Santana said the following welcoming words:
This is a project that has been made for young audiences and children, but also the idea is to attract people from other generations. We know that it will be fun and instructive. We are expecting not only young people and children, but families and literature teachers, Spanish teachers, so that they don't have to make their students read the same books over and over again. We hope that they read about topics that interest them, because to become a reader, we have to start reading what we like.
That's why, “¡DING! Una fiesta hecha de libros, Vol. III” is looking to make whole families come here and learn a little bit more about the popular science fiction genre, not only through written stories, but through pictures, images, and the creativity of every book cover.
In addition, at this event, there will be the opportunity to meet writers, workshop teachers, illustrators, and artists, which can make a child, young person, or person interested find greater motivation when asking questions, having doubts answered, and can even help them get inspired by the literary work of each guest.
