Mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez announced the opening of the El Chaparral bridge for June, a project rebuilt with high-specialty engineering as part of the restoration program of public projects carried out by the 24th Municipal Administration of Tijuana.
Alongside the head of the Secretariat of Territorial, Urban, and Environmental Development (SDTUA), Juan Enrique Bautista Corona and the head of the construction company, Heder Mendoza, a 100% local company, the mayor supervised the progress of this project that needed to be strengthened.
Bautista Corona spoke about the works that began since last June and recalled that this place was closed, after structural analysis by the School of Engineers and Architects of Tijuana, State, and Federation was made and determined that it needed to be closed down to protect citizens.

The Secretary highlighted the coordination that they had with the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communication, and Transportation (SICT) and the mayor's decision to invest in this federal project.
"I want to remind you that this bridge is not the municipality's responsibility, but due to the mobility need and thanks to our healthy finances, we managed to repair it," the mayor said while inspecting the place.
In this space, structural flaws that were not contemplated were found, which caused the project's time to expand in order to fix 450 lineal meters.
At the closure of the lane from Mexico into the United States through the San Ysidro port of entry area to Vía Rápida Poniente, supervisors arrived to oversee this project that had also been approved by professionals from SICT.
This project, which has not been properly delivered to the municipal administration and does not need to be demolished but strengthened, was repaired as a priority ordered by the municipal president due to how important safety of citizens is for this government, not to mention the citizen, moral, and political responsibility from authorities.
During this process, the head of SDTUA recalled that the desynchronizations of the boards caused the danger as well as the lack of support and seismic bumps.
It should be noted that a project of this magnitude had never been carried out in Tijuana, i.e., a reconstruction, which has saved time and resources. Doing projects of this magnitude is a breakthrough, the mayor stated.
To rebuild the El Chaparral bridge, world-renowned specialized French technology, which has also been implemented in the latest city bridges, is being used.
