After the success of the 1st edition of Crossing South Wine Food Festival, which took place in Playas de Rosarito, its 2nd edition is already being prepared, which will be broadcasted on public TV in the United States to celebrate the 13th season of this gastronomic program.
On Saturday, April 20, 25 of the best restaurants of Baja California, 13 regional wine producers, and 3 craft breweries will be present at the gardens of Hotel Rosarito Beach as part of the show "Crossing South" which will be broadcasted in English through PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) promoting the state's gastronomy.
In a press conference, this show's host, Jorge Meraz, explained that the idea of making this an in-person event came to be due to requests from the public, mainly from southern California, who were constantly asking about Baja California's delicious gastronomy and its great variety of wines which are shown on this program.
In April, we will have the premiere of the 13th season of this show and it is going to be at the same time as the seasonal beginning of this event, a wine and food festival that will take place on April 20 at Hotel Rosarito Beach. This will involve restaurant owners and wine producers that we have featured on this show throughout the seasons, among other participants.
For his part, César Rivera González, president of the Committee of Tourism and Conventions (COTUCO) of Playas de Rosarito, emphasized that both Jorge Meraz and this show's producers have become ambassadors of Baja California, increasingly helping to position its different destinations to different markets in the United States. At the same time, he also highlighted that the "Crossing South" festival is part of the tourism calendar in Playas de Rosarito as there are more than 35 scheduled events for this year.
Alan Bautista Plascencia, President of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC) of Playas de Rosarito, stated that the chamber that he leads will be in charge of co-organizing the 2nd Crossing South festival, with support from COTUCO, the municipal government, and the state government through the Secretariat of Tourism.
We are very happy that this show's producers chose Playas de Rosarito to do the 1st edition of this festival, and we are ready to receive people from southern California and from the different municipalities of our state.
Among the restaurants that will participate in Crossing South Wine Food Festival, from several different municipalities of Baja California, there are: “Pasta y Basta”, “La Casa de la Langosta, “Amores”,“Emat”,“Chabert’s”, “Susanna’s”, “Fuego Santo”, “Marea Alta”, “Boules”, and “Cempoalli Cenzontle”, among others.
It should be noted that to be a part of this international gastronomic event, there will be special fees at the venue hotel and other establishments so that visitors can plan their stay for a weekend or even more days.
