The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, reiterated his commitment with closely collaborating with the governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, through an investment of 1.3 billion pesos that will be allocated to develop combined cycle power plants, electric subsidies through CFE to benefit families’ economy, among other actions to benefit the state.

In his morning press conference, which took place in the city of Mexicali, the president stated that the goal of his visit is to exchange points of view with Baja Californian society and address several different issues.

López Obrador considered that "the people of Baja California are a progressive people, people with democratic and exemplary vocation."

As such, the president reiterated that Governor Marina del Pilar has the support from the government of Mexico in order to promote the wellbeing of Baja Californian families, especially through coordinated initiatives between both levels of government.

For her part, the state governor told the president and media outlets that, due to these announced actions, Baja California and its people will have enough energy for all homes.

According to the head of CFE, Manuel Bartlett Díaz, these power plants will join the photovoltaic plant that the government of Mexico has been building in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, which means that there will be a connection between Baja California and the National Electric System.

The federal official said that the plants will be finished on September 30, which means that they will be inaugurated by the current federal administration.

"When there is this national intercommunication, electricity is managed in the entire country, it doesn't need to be just in one region. This integration provides certainty to an entire area that has a high growing electric demand," Bartlett Díaz said by phone at the morning press conference.

For her part, the Secretary of Citizen Security and Protection of Mexico, Rosa Icela Rodriguez, stated that so far 333,000 vehicles have been regularized in Baja California. This has meant that they are 3rd place nationwide in this area and have received 834.1 million pesos that will be used to improve roads.

Marina del Pilar recalled that, four months ago, President López Obrador visited Baja California and the commitments made during his tour through the 7 municipalities of Baja California are being kept through public policies with a social perspective.
