On Tuesday, March 19, CETYS Universidad Tijuana will be visited by the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Iraqi activist Nadia Murad.
This was revealed by principal Yanina Rubio Bojórquez, together with Master Heberto Peterson and Dr. Frida Guiza Valverde. The activist will give a conference titled, "Freedom, dignity, resilience: human trafficking in light of society's indifference."

Dr. Frida Guiza stated that this conference has special significance due to the situation that is currently being experienced in the Tijuana-Mexicali geographical corridor, as people and illegal substances are being smuggled, which is why one of this conference's goals is to generate awareness.
Nadia Murad is the 3rd Nobel Prize to visit CETYS Universidad facilities; two people who were awarded the Nobel visited the Mexicali Campus and Nadia Murad's visit is the first time this will happen at the Tijuana Campus. This was revealed by Master Heberto Peterson, highlighting the importance that it has for all female students and society's feminine sector, especially due to the issues that have caused people to march on March 8th.

Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Nadia Murad is an Iraqi activist with Yazidi ancestry in favor of Human Rights. She was born on March 10, 1993. In August 2014, the then 21-year-old was kidnapped and detained by the Islamic State where 600 people were murdered (including 6 of her siblings and stepsiblings). She was freed 3 years later, on June 1, 2017.
In 2018, alongside Denis Mukwege, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for "their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict".
Since then, she has dedicated her life to speak about her experience hoping to create awareness regarding gender violence, making her one of the greatest activists defending women who have been victims of abuse.
