The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, revealed that the state has accumulated 8 consecutive quarters of annual growth, tying with Oaxaca in 2nd place nationwide in this area. This is the estimation given by the State Economic Trimester Activation (ITAEE) index that is published by the National Institute of Statistics, Geography, and Informatics.

This index represents the preliminary trend of the Gross Domestic Product per Federal Entity (PIBE). With a growth of 8.9%, Baja California is placed above the national average of 5.5%.

In the most recent landscape, which is part of the 3rd quarter of 2023, compared to the same time period in 2022, the state economy grew 2.4% yearly, averaging a 2.8% increase from January to September 2023.

For his part, the Secretary of Economy and Innovation of Baja California, Kurt Ignacio Honold Morales, explained that activities by the construction industry stood out as it led with the best performance, registering an annual increase of 18.7% in the first three trimesters of 2023. Meanwhile, the primary industry reached an increase of 1.2%, the industry sector reached 5.2%, and the service industry reached 0.7%.
