The Mexican government recognized that the assignment of these posts was possible thanks to the support and management by Governor Marina del Pilar.

Keeping the promise made by the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to provide justice and labor certainty to benefit health industry staff, job positioning of the first IMSS-Bienestar workers began in Baja California, with the support and management of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda.

In a historic day for the transformation of Mexico, the delivery of positions to all health service staff of IMSS-Bienestar Baja California began, highlighted Governor Marina del Pilar during the initial ceremony led by the managing director of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), Zóe Robledo Aburto, in Playas de Rosarito.

President López Obrador issued a message where he recognized all workers as the soul of the health system:

"We can have a new hospital, but if we don't have committed health workers and that are also compensated for their work, this doesn't move forward. This is a commitment that we made and we are going to keep it. We are going to give positions to all health workers," he said in a video message.

"Now you can see how we can accomplish things, when we have a president committed with the wellbeing of the people of Mexico, and that includes you, who are the soul of public health in our country. It is not coherent that you worked, with your warmth and professionalism and taking care of people, and didn't have this social and labor justice that today is becoming a reality," the state governor underscored.

More than 36,000 people will be given positions in this country, of which, more than 25,000 have already received this benefit in 16 states, with 66% of workers being women. This means that the staff that had gone years with shaky contracts will now have labor stability and certainty, with access to mortgage credits, loans, a dignified retirement, among other rights, IMSS-Bienestar revealed.

The governor thanked director Zoé Robledo, due to all his support in this federalization process as IMSS-Bienestar will guarantee this human right to health.

"The president knew that in Baja California we would be the first ones and we continue to make an effort, and for me, it is a privilege to be the governor that gave positions to all the staff, the soul of public health in our state. Today, they have legal and social certainty, the one that you provide every day in public hospitals," the state governor said.

Improvement of labor conditions for all workers in this sector will be reflected in better services for the population, as they are an important part for the functioning of a humane, public, and free health system, director Zoé Robledo added, among other labor benefits. Starting on March 16, Baja California will move from Zone 2 to Zone 3 which implies better wages.

"This does not occur individually. This wouldn't have been possible in Baja California without Governor Marina del Pilar, she is the one who has had the willingness that will make her go down in history," Zoé Robledo stated.

At this event, the following people were present: Ruy López, presidential representative; Miguel Romero, state coordinator of IMSS-Bienestar Health Services in Baja California; Bladimir Martínez, head of the Unit Strategic Planning and State Coordination; and Desiree Sagarnaga, head of the Administrative Operation Agency of IMSS Baja California and San Luis Río Colorado.
