Through a state housing plan, unique in Mexico, the government of Baja California led by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda has implemented more than 13,000 housing actions, which has directly benefited 43,426 people.

The state governor said that these actions have been carried out since 2022 in the municipalities of Mexicali, Tijuana, Playas de Rosarito, and Ensenada.

"Since we took ofice, our government's commitment has been to expand the coverage of proper housing and provide a safe property to the most vulnerable people," Marina del Pilar said.

For his part, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territory Redesign, Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, revealed that the results obtained were possible thanks to the implementation of four thematic pillars: social self-production of homes, new communities, accessible communities, and compact cities, which offer home access and coverage, land management, and interinstitutional coordination.

Espinoza Jaramillo explained that of the 13,000 housing actions carried out, the greatest progress is concentrated on accessible community (horizontal housing) and compact cities (vertical housing) where they are working closely with the public and private sectors that provide properties for the development of homes.

The state official highlighted examples such as the ones at Valle del Progreso and Condesa in Mexicali and Lomas del Campanario in Ensenada. These are neighborhoods where completely equipped housing deliveries with all necessary services and utilities for their livability have been completed.

Lastly, he added that 1,533 uninhabited homes have been recovered and restored to offer them at an affordable price, and that they have also managed and made regularization of land ownership easier for families in several areas of the state.
