Governor Marina del Pilar will participate at World Economic Forum in Switzerland

The governor has said that this is a unique opportunity for Baja California to catch the attention of the world and generate sustainable investments

On Tuesday, during her weekly press conference, Governor Marina del Pilar stated that she will participate in the World Economic Forum, which will take place from January 15 to January 19 in Davos, Switzerland. This represents an important, internationally renowned platform so that Baja California can position itself in the economic world.

During “Tuesday Morning Press Conference with Marina del Pilar” which took place in Mexicali, the state governor said that this forum will be focused on promoting trust through transparency, coherence, and accountability.

More than 100 governments, main international organizations, and civil society leaderships will all participate at this event where highly relevant issues such as security, transparency, energy, sustainable development, climate change, food production, among others, will be addressed.

Regarding her participation, Marina del Pilar explained that she will represent Mexico in the panel named "El realismo económico en Latinoamérica" (Economic Realism in Latin America) where key aspects will be highlighted regarding Baja California which is both in North America and Latin America.

"We will talk in this panel about the economic policy of the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and how he has contributed to stabilizing our currency and our economy at large, without ignoring the wellbeing of our people," she said.

Marina del Pilar will also participate in the panel "Diálogo sobre las estrategias del país" (Dialogue about the Country's Strategies) together with the governor of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo, and the governor of Yucatán, Mauricio Vila, where they will talk about actions they have looked into to boost Mexico, such as nearshoring.

"I want to tell you that it will be a unique opportunity to put Baja California in the world map and in the view of the main decision makers of the world, fostering sustainable investments and inclusive economic development for our country, as established by the principles of the Fourth Transformation," she underscored.

The governor pointed out that meetings with representatives of several different industries such as the aerospace, car, and medical device manufacturing sectors will be carried out in order to develop new projects that mean both jobs and wellbeing for people.

For his part, the Secretary of the Interior, Alfredo Álvarez Cárdenas, recognized the honor of inviting Baja California and said that this event will be focused on several different issues such as security and international cooperation that review the importance that Baja California has due to its border condition.

The state official explained that they will also address issues such as economic growth, jobs, investments, climate change, artificial intelligence and its relevance to contemporary society, as well as other important issues for the international community.

"The governor is going to be part of the Mexican delegation that will be invited to the forum, which gives Baja California the opportunity to be listened to and to present the development aspects that the State Development Plan have been boosting, allowing us to extend our economic alliance network and getting us closer to the new economic trends of the world and, as such, maintaining the economic leadership of Baja California," Álvarez Cárdenas said.
