Tijuana has been characterized in the last few years due to heavy traffic periods and chaos. One of the main reasons for this is the slow, sometimes painfully slow, border crossings into the United States.
This horrible time sink trying to cross the border never stops. Since the early hours of the morning, hundreds of people can wait from 2 to 3 hours in line just hoping hours don’t extend any longer.

El Chaparral or PedWest
On December 9, 2023, the Chaparral port of entry, also known as PedWest, was closed. Border authorities stated that this port of entry will remain closed indeterminately and so far, it is unknown when it will reopen. This is due to the immigrant situation that is occurring at the Mexico-US border that directly affects this border crossing.
