The State Council of Civil Protection carried out an ordinary session with representatives of the 7 municipalities of the state and several state and federal institutions where they agreed on preventive plans for the state's freeways, urban areas, and rural areas. In addition, there's the preparation of temporary shelters for people who need it.
The General Secretary of the Government, Alfredo Álvarez Cárdenas, led the session and highlighted that it is Governor Marina del Pilar’s instruction that all institutions related with emergency assistance work together in order to take care of the integrity, life, and safety of all families.
In this session, the National Commission of Water (CONAGUA) presented some weather forecasts of this winter season that includes the presence of the El Niño phenomenon that could cause important rains during the season, which has forced authorities to be ready for these incidents.
For his part, the state coordinator of Civil Protection, Salvador Cervantes Hernández, revealed the possible incidents that could occur in the 7 municipalities based on an analysis, and pointed out that there is an Alert System that works together with CONAGUA, the San Diego Weather Service, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
He added that a campaign on social media was launched so that people could be warned. This is joined by the activation of the State Committee of Emergencies where the operational areas of agencies that handle emergencies of the three levels of government participated.
In addition, there is a strategy with the Fire and Civil Protection Departments all over the state, the installation of a temporary shelter in the community of La Rumorosa in the municipality of Tecate, and the listing of 80 temporary shelters with a capacity for more than 9,000 people.
At this event the representatives of the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the National Guard (GN), Federal Roads and Bridges (CAPUFE), the Public Trust of the Administration of Funds and Investment of the Centinela-La Rumorosa Road (FIARUM), the Red Cross, the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Baja California (SSCBC), the Senior Administrative Office, among others, were present.
