The Subsecretary of Investment Management at the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation (SEI), Rodolfo Andrade Pelayo, participated today in the Economic and Business Forum between Ireland and Latin America, supported by the PROBAJA Trade and Investment delegation, during his promotional economic tour in Europe in order to strengthen relations between the Irish business sector that invests in Baja California.
"We are interested in attracting foreign investment and quality jobs for the highly prepared talent by our institutions and universities," Andrade Pelayo said during his speech “Capacidades y Oportunidades en Baja California". Ireland's interest in Baja California grew thanks to the participation of the Baja Californian government at this first international forum of its kind.
In fact, Ireland already has a presence in the state through companies offering economic growth and opportunities for Baja Californian professionals; Smurfit Kappa, leading company in packaging solutions met with the subsecretary where they shared their interest in growing in Baja California. In addition, multinational company Aptiv that already has an electric-automotive plant in Tijuana wishes to amplify their presence in the state through a new market.
In addition, an opportunity was had to have work meetings with the ambassador of Mexico in Ireland, Carolina Zaragoza Flores; the ambassador of Ireland in Mexico, Maeve von Heynitz, and the vice president of Enterprise Ireland and head of southern US and Mexico of Enterprise Ireland, Sara Hill. In addition, the PROBAJA promotion organization participated with the following panels: “Innovación y Colaboración”; “Crecimiento Sostenible en la industria Agroalimentaria” and “Fortalecimiento de la Conectividad".
