The company Mexicana de Aviación is an airline founded in 1921 and it is the oldest in Mexico and the third oldest in the world. In 2010, its operations were suspended and then they were embroiled in a legal process. It was eventually declared bankrupt by a judge. However in 2023, it returned.

On July 10, President López Obrador announced the purchase of the brand and assets of this company which will be under the management of SEDENA. It will begin operations on December 1st of this year.
