Marina del Pilar delivers awards to Baja Californian women in "Mujeres al Volante" program

The governor of Baja California reiterated the role that women have in her administration, delivering awards to female citizens in Mexicali part of the "Mujeres al Volante" program

The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, delivered awards to 2nd generation women who graduated from the "Mujeres al Volante" program in the city of Mexicali. This is part of a comprehensive policy that is looking to strengthen mobility and provide Baja Californian women with a proper life and well-paying jobs as they will be channeled to become public transportation drivers in the municipality.

During the 95th edition of Wednesday Morning Press Conference with Marina del Pilar which took place in Mexicali, the state governor reiterated that this program is being carried out alongside the Secretariat of Work and Social Prevision (STPS), the Institute of Sustainable Mobility (IMOS), CECATI, and transportation companies.

These women are trained to operate public transportation with a gender perspective in order to take advantage of the talent of Baja Californian women in all areas, even the ones that were historically dominated by men.

Marina del Pilar highlighted that by being part of the National Strategy of Mobility and the national CECATI program, the program will be repeated in other Mexican states with the first ones being Baja California Sur and Quintana Roo.

Regarding this, the head of STPS, Alejandro Arregui Ibarra, stated that two generations, consisting of 34 women, have graduated in Mexicali and a generation of 26 students will graduate soon in Tijuana. It should be noted that it is estimated that this number increases throughout this administration.

For his part, the managing director of IMOS, Jorge Alberto, spoke about Transporte Violeta, a mobility program exclusive for women, at no cost, that is already operating in Tijuana, Mexicali, and Playas de Rosarito, providing them with security and wellbeing.

He explained that Transporte Violeta routes are designed in regards to the mobility needs of women and is currently operating 20 vehicles, which will be increased to 25 in October with 5 new buses in Tijuana, focused on the mobility of women and their children.

In addition, an expansion of this violet transportation is expected in the municipalities of Tecate and Ensenada at the end of October, after coordinated work has been carried out with both municipal administrations.

In this morning press conference, the magistrate president of the Superior Court of Justice and the Judiciary Council, Alejandro Isaac Fragozo López, spoke about progress regarding obtaining justice and the coordination with the government of Baja California to strengthen the budget and the operation capability of the Judicial Branch of Baja California to benefit society.

During his participation, Fragozo López said that the Mortgage Court will be opened in October, which will benefit citizens in the medium-term as they will be able to recover their homes which are currently going through legal processes, so as to benefit the economy and the human right to a proper home.

As such, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territory Redesign, Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, highlighted the progress of the State Housing Plan which is being carried out alongside the real estate sector, federal authorities, and Baja Californian municipal administrations. Together they are creating greater institutional capability to develop houses at low prices for families so that people can have proper homes with all the services they need.
