This morning, at around 5:30 AM, CBP reported a significant failure in their system which has caused slow traffic flow in Tijuana's several ports of entry.
Despite the fact that the system only failed for a relatively short period, it was an excessively long time for travelers who were going to the United States, with many saying that the line remained completely frozen for an hour and a half.
This is what the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce said about this:
Passenger vehicles remained stopped for more than an hour today. Entry processing systems were inactive this morning, stopping entries into the United States in all of California’s land ports of entry, causing important delays for employees who cross the border (so believe them). Processing systems are now working, but they are working slower than usual.
So far there are no more reports, however, it is possible that throughout this day the CBP system continues to be slower than usual.
Traffic at the ports of entry
According to Garitas Tijuana, on their latest update at 11:25 AM, the situation at the ports of entry is as follows:
San Ysidro
General Lane: 2 hours and 35 minutes
Ready Lane: 2 hours and 25 minutes
Sentri: 30 minutes
Pedestrian: 2 hours and 30 minutes
Otay Mesa
General Lane: 2 hours and 25 minutes
Ready Lane: 2 hours and 20 minutes
Sentri: 15 minutes
Pedestrian: 20 minutes
Keep an eye on all information that will be released if you're planning to cross into the United States in the next few hours.
