Marina del Pilar will boost development of the San Quintin community

The governor will address the needs of the population

With help from the municipal government and federal authorities, the governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, will boost the comprehensive development of the San Quintin community in order to listen to their needs and promote plans of action to benefit them.

Among the projects in mind there are the construction of the Center for the Justice of Women, the restoration of affected areas by tropical storm Hilary, and the promotion of higher education in order to benefit the people of San Quintin.

Accompanied by officials, and with support from the armed forces and authorities of the Foundational Municipal Council, the state governor laid out concrete actions to address the lag that has taken place in San Quintin for many years, through a social policy that places the needs and human rights of all people, especially most vulnerable groups, as the main focus.

Marina del Pilar led the laying of the first foundation stone of the Center for the Justice of Women of San Quintin, which will be the second one in the state. In coordination with the Judicial Branch of Baja California led by magistrate Alejandro Isaac Fragozo López, this center will offer a justice framework and comprehensive assistance for San Quintin natives who are victims of any type of violence.

Alongside representatives of the National Commission to Prevent and Eradicate Violence Against Women (CONAVIM), Marina del Pilar reaffirmed her commitment with women, girls, and young women of this municipality to ensure them a life free of violence.

"It is a commitment, it is an obligation that I have as a governor, and it is a challenge that all Mexican states have which is to provide justice with a gendered perspective, because when you hurt a woman, you hurt an entire family", she stated.

The governor recognized the efforts of women in public service and civil society in developing public policies to benefit all women such as Escuadrón Violeta, Transporte Violeta, Tarjeta Violeta, and the Center for the Justice of Women which is becoming a reality today to benefit all the people of San Quintin.

On the other hand, as part of her commitment to promote inter-cultural and inclusive education, Governor Marina del Pilar supervised the conclusion of the first construction phase of Universidad Intercultural de Baja California, which will provide education to hundreds of students and will finish its second phase this year to benefit all people, without any favoritism.

In addition, alongside the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR) and the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), she supervised projects that are being carried out in areas affected by tropical storm Hilary such as the replacement of pipes to resolve flooding.

During her visit, Marina del Pilar was accompanied by the commander of the Second Military Region, General Víctor Hugo Aguirre Serna and commander of the Second Naval Region, Admiral Rubén Alfonso Vargas Suárez, who informed her about the actions carried out to help people who were affected by this weather condition.

According to the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territory Redesign (SIDURT), led by Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, the state government has promptly addressed puddles and has restored affected homes. In addition, they are preparing, alongside the Government of Mexico, actions with a higher impact to the south of the municipality such as in Bahía de los Ángeles.

Marina del Pilar highlighted the coordination that exists between the Foundational Municipal Council of San Quintin and its president, Jorge Alberto López Peralta, with whom she is in constant communication to address the population's several different needs through continuous actions by the state government.
