This weekend, Valle de Guadalupe dyed itself full of colors, joy, laughter, music, and above all, a lot of wine, thanks to the region’s most important winemaking family: CETTO.
On Saturday, August 12 another edition of the traditional grape harvest by Grupo Cetto was celebrated. An authentic Fiesta de Colores took place, a unique experience in which SanDiegoRed was a special guest.
At 1 PM, this event began with the very roots of the grape harvest: the thanksgiving and blessing of the year’s first grape harvest, the fruit that is the center of the entire winemaking industry.
Members of the third and fourth generation of the Cetto family were present in this act that allows people to reflect and thank the good willingness of nature and the great efforts that everyone makes in order to create wine.
Once the mass took place, attendants were taken to bless the grape’s mill where they were able to watch this process.
Later, the winetasting moment arrived! Staff of winery Cetto provided personalized assistance so that each attendant could have the best experience when trying out one of their more than 30 wine labels alongside some canapes.
It should be noted that throughout the day, they were offering these wines to the public and due to the heat, there were several hydration spots with natural and mineral water.
After this moment, everyone went to the yard where one of the most important moments of the day took place: the grape stomping competition.
The excitement for this contest was so huge that there was even a waiting list. Women began stomping first, while their partners got the juice through extracting tubes.
One of the winners were a couple that has been married for 28 years from La Quinta in California. They had never come to Fiesta de Colores, but after this first experience, they don’t want to miss every upcoming year of this festival.
The men’s category stood out more for its comedy than for its grape stomping qualities. The vine juice shot out everywhere except in the proper bucket. The audience had the opportunity to laugh like they had never laughed before while experiencing how wine used to be made.
After the grape stomping, everyone went to the terrace where the decorations were only bested by the majestic sunset that one can contemplate from there.
The food was an exquisite banquet with four courses:
The first one was a beef steak carpaccio, Ramonetti cheese, arugula salad, red wine vinaigrette, and aioli with homemade green olives as well as crostini.
The second course had some delicious cheese raviolis with duck confit, sauteed mushrooms, and grape sauce.
The main meal was an incredible beef steak grilled in firewood, accompanied with a combination of mushrooms, parsnip puree, and Nebbiolo sauce.
And the dessert was filo pastry buñuelo with macerated strawberries and whipped cream with passito of Bodegas Cetto.
This was all accompanied by the fine chords of a violin and the great label variety of the Sierra Blanca brand.
After the meal, the CEO of this winery, Luis Alberto Cetto, thanked the attendants and Cetto employees, who he singled out as part of this great family.
In addition, the most important medals won by the wines of Cetto in several international events in 2023 were shown, such as the Best Mexican Winery of the Year Award won at the New York International Wine Competition.
The Cetto family guided guests to the bullring, where a musical show took place.
At 8:15 PM, two hours full of music, dancing, and fun began thanks to the enormous talent of the 30 artists that are part of Myst, who combined a great light show and performance with a musical setlist in English and Spanish more than 5 decades old.
After these two hours of fun, dinnertime arrived. Tortas Washmobile were present to offer their gastronomy in a casual, but unique manner.
In addition, the after party with a DJ excited everyone, as they were able to enjoy a moment full of camaraderie, joy, dancing, and even more wine.
After 95 years of beginning their beautiful history in Baja California, more than a winery, Cetto continues to be a great family, becoming bigger and bigger, that unites people on both sides of the border with moments full of love and happiness.
Fiesta de Colores was a celebration of grapes, wine, but above all, it was an ode to life itself, as it reminded us that the wines by Cetto are present in the happiest moments of our lives.
Cheers!
