The city is ready to welcome once again the yearly Toro Nagashi festival, organized by the Japanese Friendship Garden (JFG). This event will take place on August 11 and August 12, 2023, and it is a unique occasion to celebrate the circle of life with your loved ones, following a tradition that has taken place every summer in Japan for generations.

The Toro Nagashi Festival is a ceremony full of meaning, made in honor of those who are no longer with us. Floating lanterns, also known as "toro nagashi", pay tribute to our loved ones who are no longer with us and wish them peace on their way. Attendants will have the opportunity of releasing their own lanterns illuminated with LED candles in the stream at the lower garden, creating a show full of lights and emotions.

Starting at 10 AM on Friday, August 11, 100 lanterns will be available for purchase and decoration at the Inamori Pavilion. It should be noted that they will be given according to one’s arrival, so it is recommended that those interested arrive early to ensure their participation in this heartwarming activity.

Without a doubt, the Toro Nagashi Festival is an experience that goes beyond the ceremony itself. JFG has prepared a series of activities for attendants, including artistic performances, delicious gastronomy, and a celebratory environment in a very beautiful place.
