The 2023 Rosarito-Ensenada Bike Ride has been cancelled

The 44th edition of the classic Rosarito-Ensenada Bike Ride has been cancelled, the event’s organizers announced.

In a statement on social media, they said that the ride scheduled for 2023 had to be cancelled due to “reasons beyond their control”.

We regret to inform you that the 44th edition of the Rosarito-Ensenada Bike Ride which was going to take place in September 2023 has been cancelled due to unexpected circumstances that are beyond our control. Despite our efforts, we have been unable to meet the necessary conditions to offer you the event that you deserve.

Instead, it is expected that the 45th edition takes place with no issues next year on May 4.

In addition, they clarified that those who had already registered for the September edition will be able to ask for a full refund or use their ticket for the May 2024 edition. .

Though the reasons for this cancellation were not explained, it should be noted that the last edition, which took place in May, was interrupted by agents of the Municipal Police of Playas de Rosarito who tried to stop cyclists from beginning the ride.

Back then, the issue was that that permit payments had not been made for this event. Though the event was able to keep going, it had soured due to the agents’ actions.

It wouldn’t be weird to think then that the reason for this cancellation is related to administrative issues with the Municipal Administration of Playas de Rosarito.
