California has an endless number of touristic cities where the biggest problem is distance, which is why many Tijuana natives and tourists have to plan long and elaborated trips on the road, due to the distance and time it takes to travel. However, it seems that a bullet train may finally change this.
The arrival of railway lines has been promoted not just in Mexico, but in the United States and a new bullet train is looking to connect Los Angeles with San Francisco, for a trip that will last less than three hours. Best of all, it will be solar powered.
This project is part of the California High Speed Rail which, besides building a bullet train that will cut down traveling times, will work with environmental measures in order to decrease the harmful elements that are damaging the planet.
It will travel 171 miles in Central Valley at an approximate speed of 354 km per hour and it will cost $100 billion dollars. Though initially the goal of this train is to connect San Francisco with Los Angeles, it is expected that it is eventually extended to reach Sacramento and San Diego.
The construction of this train will begin approximately in 2026 and it is expected that it will take 4 years to finish. However, one of this project’s biggest problems has been financing and that has delayed the process. Despite this, it is the most ambitious and expensive project in the United States when it comes to infrastructure; it is expected for it to get profits of $14 million dollars per year long term.
