National Meteorological Services (SMN) and the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) recently announced the arrival of a third heatwave that will have most of the country experience high temperatures.

According to experts, the states of Baja California, Campeche, Chiapas, Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, and Veracruz will have temperatures that will range between 40 to 45°C (104 to 113°F).

This is due to anticyclonic circulation in medium levels of the atmosphere, a phenomenon which will create a third heatwave in the northern area, central areal, east, west, south, and southeast of the country, including Valle de Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula.

On the other hand, the states of Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Nuevo León, Puebla, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, Yucatán, and Zacatecas will experience a temperature drop with temperatures ranging from 35 to 40°C (95-104°F).

The remaining states, which are Aguascalientes, Mexico City, Hidalgo, Queretaro, and Tlaxcala, will experience maximum temperatures of 30 to 35°C (86 to 95°F).

In order to prevent heat strokes or serious harm caused by weather, Civil Protection authorities recommend people to avoid being in the sun for prolonged periods of time, keep themselves hydrated, and pay special attention to children and seniors.
