Tijuana

Two lanes will be reopened on Bulevar Cuauhtémoc Sur this Wednesday

Traffic flow will be intermittent, one lane per direction

Tijuana authorities will open two lanes on Cuauhtémoc Sur Boulevard at 5 PM this Wednesday, April 5 in order to speed up traffic, after keeping accesses closed due to the active landslide at the level of Fraccionamiento La Sierra.

The Municipal Government informs that traffic flow will be intermittent, one lane per direction, and its use will be left to the criteria of traffic agents of the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection of Tijuana.

This measure was taken based on the erosion damage of the slope that supports the building and records from the Municipal Civil Protection Agency, which have determined that the collapse of the building could happen in an uncertain manner. As such, in order to support traffic flow in the area, this alternate road will be used.

In addition, permanent surveillance and monitoring will be used in the area, in case more erosion movement occurs in the slope, which could determine if the entire road is closed once more.

There will be signs in the area and 40 meters of rammed earth will be used as a protective barrier.

It should be noted that legal analysis continues regarding whether this building can be demolished so as to decrease the risk posed by it for the users of Bulevar Cuauhtémoc, which will allow for the complete reopening of the road, as soon as it is allowed.

This is why the Municipal Administration of Tijuana recommends people follow sign instructions during the reopening of these two lanes and to be extra cautious here; they should not stop to take pictures or film so as to speed up mobility in this road.
