The National Institute of Geography and Statistics (INEGI) confirmed that Baja California, under the governorship of Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, is ranked among the first places in all of Mexico when it comes to job creation in the industry.

The organization explains that in the first ten months of 2022, Baja California created 27,438 new jobs in the Manufacturing, Maquiladora, and Export Services Industry (IMMEX), which is 15% of jobs created in this industry.

The figure mentioned above puts Baja California third place nationwide, a position it has maintained for 6 months straight, the governor highlighted.

Marina del Pilar stated that Baja California managed a new maximum figure of 432,576 people working in manufacturing and non-manufacturing establishments in October 2022.

As such, the state is providing 13.2% of employed IMMEX personnel nationwide, i.e., second place among all states in Mexico.

In addition, total exports of IMMEX companies in the state were 15,970 billion dollars in the first ten months of the year, placing Baja California fourth place nationwide. Most exports were carried out through IMMEX manufacturing companies.

This means that, from January to October, exports added up to 14,885 billion dollars and exceeded the number in this same time period in 2021, which was 13 billion dollars.

To conclude, Marina del Pilar recalled that the state continues to be leader in numbers of manufacturing and non-manufacturing IMMEX establishments. Currently, the 1,132 establishments here represent 17.7% of this industry’s establishments in the country.
