Warning issued for high tide and flood risk in coasts of Baja California

The Civil Protection Agency of Baja California revealed that high tides could cause several risks

Due to high tide in Baja Californian coasts, mainly in Playas de Rosarito, authorities of the State Coordination of Civil Protection Agency of Baja California warned people about flood risks at the Pacific shores.

The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, and the Secretary of the Interior, Catalino Zavala Márquez, have instructed the population at large to be warned and the necessary actions to be undertaken to counter possible damages.

The high tide is occurring due to meteorological factors caused by the arrival of cold front 22 in Baja California, which made way for strong winds, rain, and high tide in the Pacific Ocean area, stated the Coordinator of State Civil Protection, Salvador Cervantes Hernández.

People are urged to respect orders and signs by state and municipal Civil Protection authorities, and remove palm roofs, furniture, and beach equipment from the beach.

The coordinator stated that, under no circumstances, should recreational activities be carried out which include walking on the beach, aquatic sports, or swimming in the sea. In addition, he has suggested people remove and/or secure small boats.
