The Baja California peninsula is, without a doubt, an attractive tourist destination for thousands of people. However, it doesn’t have a railway that goes through all of its length, something that has been considered, and could very soon become a reality.
Federal representative Alfredo Porras revealed that the peninsular train project has been moving forward. Its goal is that it travels through more than 1,700 kilometers from Tijuana to Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, which will help to support the development of the region by directly connecting the entire peninsula.
It should be noted that this project could be connected to the Pacific Train, which is looking to travel 4,500 kilometers from Tijuana to Chiapas; this proposal is being carried out by representative Miguel Torruco Garza.
It is expected that the executive project of this train begins its preparations in February 2023. It will take approximately 4 years for it to be ready so that thousands of passengers can ride it and enjoy the landscapes and all Baja Californian regions.
According to several estimations, taking into account costs of machinery, equipment, construction, environmental impact studies, rights of way, and more, this train will cost around 140 billion pesos. It should be noted that Porras stated that this would be undertaken by private investors.
A while ago, Mexican actor Damián Alcazar flooded social media with his interview with representative Miguel Torruco Garza, where he spoke about this same train. He spoke about how he wishes that the wonders that Mexican states have to offer can stand out, without harming the nature of the regions. He even proposed a train that begins at San Diego, so that American tourists can ride it without any problems.
