Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the governor of Baja California, was invited to the regional meeting held by the Secretariat of Public Education and Educational Authorities of Federal Entities which took place in the city of Tijuana and was presided by the head of the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP), Leticia Ramírez Amaya.

In her message, the state governor recognized the educational promotion by the government led by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, especially to guarantee the right to education for all people regardless of their economic and social status.

Marina del Pilar recognized Secretary Ramírez Amaya for her willingness to move forward in regards to the education of Baja California, safeguard the future of the state, and progress when it comes to the complete fulfillment of the rights of all education personnel.

“Education is one of the main issues for the government of Mexico and the government of Baja California,” Marina del Pilar said and highlighted that her administration is committed to improve education, as this has a direct impact on the general wellbeing of people.

The governor highlighted the challenges of education staff to improve the educational stage after the COVID-19 pandemic, as there are particular socioemotional needs among children and teenagers who were inside their homes for two years.

“Without a doubt, at the New Mexican School, we are convinced that it means that the child of the poorest people receives the same education as the child of the richest, to provide everyone with the same educational tools, which is why I want to recognize the effort that is being developed,” the governor stated.

In addition, she listed the main education programs applied by the government of Baja California through the Secretariat of Education, such as “Pancita Llena Corazón Contento”, (Full Stomach, Happy Heart) whose goal is to make sure that all children have a dignified diet that allows them to strengthen their learning, as well as “Educando con el Corazón” (Educating with Heart), which extends the times that students spend inside educational facilities.

For her part, Ramírez Amaya recognized the governor of Baja California for her permanent commitment with the wellbeing of all teachers, especially to make sure that pending payments from previous years were paid, as well as having safe environments inside schools.

In Baja California, the federal official called on to maintain a National Education Agreement that allows all federal entities to register joint progress so that there’s better education in our country, under the premise of more land, less desks.

Ramírez Amaya stated that public federal policies have as a goal to restore school as a social safe space in communities, improve and update learning towards current needs with a humanitarian approach, and strengthen innovation and the application of technology for the education process.

At this event the following people were present: the Subsecretary of Basic Education of SEP, Martha Velda Hernández Moreno; the Subsecretary of Middle Education of SEP, Nora Ruvalcaba Gámez; the Subsecretary of Higher Education of SEP, Luciano Concheiro Bórquez; the head of USICAMM, Adela Piña Bernal; and the general coordinator of Educational Linking, Hernando Peniche Monfort.

The following people were also present: the Secretary of Education of Baja California, Gerardo Arturo Solís Benavides; the Secretary of Education of Baja California Sur, Alicia Meza Osuna; the Secretary of Education of Nuevo Leon, Sofia Leticia Morales Garza; the Secretary of Education of Sinaloa, Graciela Domínguez Nava; the Secretary of Education of Sonora, Aarón Aurelio Grageda Bustamante; and the Secretary of Education of Tamaulipas, Lucía Aimé Castillo Pastor.
