With the presence of the government of Baja California, the 43rd edition of one of the winemaking industry’s most important events ended. At this event, the Secretary of Tourism of Baja California, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodrígez was also present and he pointed out how enriching this week has been for the state due to the contributions by the World Congress of Vine and Wine who gathered the very best in order to benefit Baja California.

Representing Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the Secretary of Tourism of Baja California, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, pointed out that this week has been enriching for Baja California due to the valuable knowledge and ideas shared by scientists, scholars, agronomists, oenologists, viticulturists, lab technicians, sommeliers, and experts from all winemaking countries.

“We are honored to have had the opportunity to share with you the gastronomic, oenological, and ecotouristic kaleidoscope that our Baja California and its municipalities offer,” the state official stated.

It should be noted that, thanks to this Congress, an agreement was signed by the governments of Mexico and France to delineate a joint schedule in order to regulate, boost, and carry out better agricultural practices regarding wine production.

There was also a letter of intent that the government of Baja California signed with the government of Israel to consolidate knowledge and information exchanges regarding agricultural and harnessing of water matters, as well as educational and cultural exchanges.

In addition, in these last four days, the Viniculture Study Center at CETYS University began operations. It is the first, and so far only institution in Mexico dedicated to research vine and wine with a vision, a joint effort between the government and business sectors.

At this closing event, which took place at winery Casa Pedro Domecq, the following people were present: the Secretary of Agriculture, Santiago Arguello Campos; Director General of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, Pau Roca; Secretary of the Country and Food Security, Juan Meléndrez Espinoza; General Director of winery Pedro Domecq, Martin Skelton, among others.
