Marina del Pilar carries out recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Kay in San Felipe

The governor recognized the support and coordination by the federal government, as well as the coordination with the state administration

Governor Marina del Pilar led the coordinated recovery efforts, by the three levels of government, in order to restore affected areas in the aftermath of Hurricane Kay, by bringing help directly to communities. In addition, the governor recognized San Felipe natives for their skills and their progress regarding restoring affected areas. These are some of the actions that are part of the Corazón por Delante (Heart Above All) campaigns.

As part of this event, Marina del Pilar led the delivery of social aid to benefit the inhabitants of this municipality, which includes Violet Cards, educational supports, sport equipment, and aid for elderly and disabled people, with the goal of improving life conditions for San Felipe families. Ávila Olmeda stated that the state government is promptly working, in coordination with the San Felipe Municipal Council, to bring and restore all the services that the port is missing.

“Today we came to San Felipe and I am very proud to see how this wonderful municipality has gotten stronger and stronger. We are working in coordination, and we have the support of the President of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador who, immediately after the hurricane, sent the Secretary of the Navy, Rafael Ojeda, to assist people,” she stated and said that these coordinated efforts are already showing important results so that economic normality can occur optimally once again in the least amount of time possible.

It should be noted that during her visit, the governor participated in the presentation of concrete actions, led by the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), to fight against the illegal fishing of the vaquita porpoise in the upper half of the Gulf of California. She also led a Security Council Meeting, together with the Government of Mexico and representatives of the Foundational Municipal Council, in order to review strategies that will be carried out to recover peace in the seventh municipality of the state. As such, the governor reiterated her endorsement of Captain Andrés Bonilla Castro, the new Security Director of San Felipe.

At this event, the following people were present: Secretary of State Welfare, Netzahualcóyotl Jáuregui Santillán; Delegate of the Government of Mexico in Baja California, Jesús Alejandro Ruiz Uribe; Secretary of Health of Baja California, Jesús Alejandro Ruiz Uribe; Representative of the XXIV Congress Legislature of the State of Baja California, Juan Manuel Molina García; President of the Foundational Municipal Council of San Felipe, José Luis Dagnino López, and Violet Card program beneficiary, Elba Cano.
