The new season of Rick and Morty premiered on HBO Max and as always, it continues to impress. It even made a reference on its first episode that will delight Tijuana natives as it mentions the famous book “The Four Agreements” by writer Don Miguel Ruiz.
The Four Agreements is one of the bestselling books on Amazon and has been recommended by Oprah Winfrey who even ended up interviewing the Tijuana native writer. In addition, it is known that celebrities such as Tom Brady and Ellen DeGeneres have found guidance in its teachings.
Something similar happened on the 1st episode of season 6 of Rick and Morty. After the events of last season, the characters have been forced to go back to their original dimensions. Morty ends up returning to an apocalyptic mutant reality where he thinks his family still lives.
However, to Morty and the viewers’ surprise the only survivor is Jerry. This character has shown in previous seasons to be a weak character with no spine. On this episode, we see an newly invigorated Jerry.
This version of Jerry is strong and calm and claims that the reason he has taken this path full of tranquility and strength is because he read The 4 Agreements. However, everything gets out of control and he ends up stealing Morty’s bag, showing his true nature.
Though not everything goes well on this episode, the Tijuana book is a spiritual guide that is based on Toltec philosophy and has helped hundreds of people around the world. Its four main pillars are: 1. Be Impeccable With Your Word, 2. Don't Take Anything Personally, 3. Don't Make Assumptions, 4. Always Do Your Best.
