On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos Salseados” located at Calz. Ermita Nte. 30, Santa Cruz. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a salmon taco priced at $3.5 dollars ($70 pesos) and a “salseado” taco priced at $2.25 dollars ($45 pesos).
Salmon Taco
The first thing to highlight about this taco was its presentation and the fact that it had the word “Tijuana” written with dressing. This taco has salmon, chipotle sauce, avocado, and is served on a handmade corn tortilla with good thickness. Though the tortilla had good thickness and maize flavor, it wasn’t humid enough for a handmade tortilla. Considering that the salmon was also not a lot in relation to the rest of the taco, this taco gets a rating of 8.1.
Price: $3.5 dollars ($70 pesos)
Salseado (Saucy) Taco
This taco has meat, guacamole, and as said by our host, it had two different salsas, which he identified when he tried it. Once he took his first bite, he added that it also had very diluted watery guacamole without any avocado flavor.
Regarding the meat, he realized that it wasn’t marinated. One of the salsas was similar to the previous taco with chipotle and the other couldn’t be identified by our host. The tortilla was a little dry, as if it had been made and heated on the griddle. This is why this taco gets a rating of 6.2.
Price: $2.25 dollars ($45 pesos)
