On this new episode of Baja Window to the South, hosts Olga Sánchez de la Vega and Scott Koenig began their show in front of Estadio Caliente to present the Mexican lucha libre (wrestling) event that will take place in Tijuana. This is the famous “Triplemania.”
During their conversation with Martín Fuentes, lucha libre promoter, they highlighted the popularity that this sport has gained lately, spreading all the way to the US. Currently, around 30% of attendants come from the United States to enjoy this show.
On June 18th, Estadio Caliente will be the venue of this spectacular Mexican lucha libre event known as “Triplemania”, which will have everything from an opening ceremony to an airplane show by the Mexican army. There will also be a meet and greet before the event, where fans will be able to speak with their favorite luchadores and even take some pictures.
One of this episode’s guests, Tijuana’s Opera in the Street Festival director, María Teresa Riqué was present to talk about this event filled with music, great food, and theater.
The festival started as a joke on the opera’s coffee shop anniversary, and it was such a success that they had the idea to celebrate it on Tijuana streets because of the high level of attendance they got the first time.
After being created in 2004, the 2022 edition will have the participation of over 500 artists and performers and will take place from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, although it should be noted that there are going to be activities for families, even children, starting at 1:00 PM.
