ACAPULCO, GUERRERO. Sunday, May 22, 2022. As part of the inauguration of the Tianguis Turístico (Touristic Street Market) México 2022, Grupo Abadi and NewCity Medical Plaza received an award for their innovative comprehensive health and welfare service model ecosystem in our country and for being considered one of the most important Latin American projects on this matter.

Mexico’s Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López Hernández, representing Mexico’s President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, was in charge of giving this important award that was received by the President and CEO of Grupo Abadi, Isaac Abadi Duek. They were accompanied by the head of Mexico’s Secretariat of Tourism (SECTUR), Miguel Torruco Marqués, and the Governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda.

Since this project began in 2014 in Tijuana, Baja California, located only 500 yards from the San Diego, California border, NewCity Medical Plaza has positioned itself as an innovative development on medical tourism. This development is based on four main principles: a medical tower with over 30 specialties and certified doctors, the NewCity Hospital with 8 surgical rooms, Hotel Quartz and Spa, designed as a holistic concept for recovery, and the commercial NewCity Plaza with a gastronomic area.

Other amenities and services that distinguish NewCity Medical Plaza are the Compass Imaging & Lab, the helipad, the Zen garden, the wellness center, and its concierge. Being one of the most ambitious health tourism projects in all of Latin America, NewCity Medical Plaza currently receives more than 3,000 patients a day, 80% coming from the US, and 20% coming from Mexico and other countries. Its biggest advantage is that its services and medical procedures are 80% more affordable than in the United States.

The Tianguis Turístico, where this award was given to Grupo Abadi and NewCity Medical Plaza, is the most important yearly touristic fair in Mexico as it exhibits the touristic, cultural, natural, and gastronomic richness of this country to the world. In 2022, this event took place from May 22 to May 25 in Acapulco, Guerrero.
