Tijuana will have its first traveling exhibition on wine bottles painted by artists

A series of events will take place due to the 25th anniversary of CDT

The Tijuana Development Council (CDT) is celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2022 as a non-profit institution which has always promoted the city’s and its inhabitants’ development, by boosting projects that look to improve the economy, education, and security in the region.

In the events scheduled to celebrate this anniversary, a Traveling Wine Exhibition will take place. Presented by the Leader of the Entrepreneurship Axis of CDT, Ariosto Manrique, he commented that just like in 2008 where the “Cow Parade” artistic exhibition of fiberglass cows was shown at different places in Tijuana, they are looking for something similar with something that represents the region. And what a better element to represent the region than a bottle of wine!

Since this is one of the most important winemaking regions in all of Mexico, they are looking to create the first traveling exhibition with this particular theme. The process of making these bottled will be carried out through an artistic call (which is considered a first level rubric in the region) where 25 artistic proposals will be considered according to the techniques and specifications stipulated by the council. The selected artists will be provided with all the necessary materials, and once each of the products have been produced, they will be shown in Tijuana under the city’s established security norms and will be auctioned. The auction’s earnings will be allocated to both the artists and the causes that will be supported at these events.

It should be noted that during their press conference, there was a model of a bottle wine as an example of their first proposal. It was painted by Tijuana adopted-native and creator of the Brotherhood Mural artist, Enrique Chiu.

During the press conference where these kick-off events were presented the following people were present: Carmelo Estrada, CDT Consultation Council Coordinator; Lic. Claudia Castro, Institutional Development Axis Leader; Engineer Tomas Perez Vargas, CDT Environmental Axis Leader; Ariosto Manrique, CDT Entrepreneurship Axis Leader; CDT councilors and advisors, as well as Tijuana artist Enrique Chiu and the media.

Besides this artistic event that will take place between July and August, an assembly will take place where the new CDT director will be presented in August. In September, a business panel with an economic development theme will take place and, to top it all off, a gala dinner will take place in October to conclude all 25th anniversary events.
