Given the presence of the micron variant in Baja California, the Ministry of Health and the State Commission for the Protection Against Sanitary Risks (Coepris) announced that one of the new measures to prevent the virus's spread would be a mandatory vaccination certificate for entry into establishments. However, the guidelines were updated on Thursday to clarify that this was an optional measure.
During a press conference, Erwin Areizega, the head of the Coepris, stated that it is only a recommendation that non-essential state establishments request a certificate or proof of vaccination to enter the establishment as a sanitary measure to prevent the virus from spreading and having an impact on the state's economy.
They require documentation or certificate of vaccination against Covid-19 or PCR test with a negative result no later than five days before to arrival of their clients over the age of 18. During Coepris's inspection visits, bars, restaurants, casinos, theatres, gyms, stadiums, and amusement centers would be inspected, he stated.
In reply, he stated that employers are expected to follow the Ministry of Health's guidelines to create safe areas and prevent the spread of the virus.
In Tijuana, a booster immunization program for persons over 40 has begun.
