Tacos "El Poblano Jr" in Tijuana fails in taste for its tortilla and guacamole

Chef Danny Betancourt pointed out that the flavor and marinade of the carne asada was good

In this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, chef Danny Betancourt visited Tacos "El Poblano Jr", a taqueria located in Diego Rivera, Zona Rio Tijuana where they tasted, judged and rated two of their tacos, one of asada, which is priced at $30 pesos and another one of tripa with a cost of $47 pesos.

Tripa Taco

This was the first one Danny was given, the tortilla is double the size that those that come with in a packet so it has a regular size, it has the tripa asada, guacamole, onion, cilantro and red sauce. Danny expected the tortilla to crunch when he bit into the taco as it looked a bit golden brown, however, when he bit into it, it crunched but because it was a bit dry and leathery, according to the chef.

Although the tripe was well browned, to Danny's taste it was very dry, the guacamole and salsa lightened the taco, however, the avocado had no flavor other than the avocado pulp and it was mixed with some liquid and in general the taste of the taco was quite even, since neither the tortilla nor the tripe helped each other on the palate. He gave this taco a 3.0 rating.

Price: $47 pesos (2.3 dlls)

Asada Taco

This taco also has a double tortilla, grilled meat, guacamole, onion, cilantro and red sauce. As with the tripa taco, the tortilla was very dry, although the only good thing was the marinade and seasoning of the meat, so in every bite you could feel the flavors of the meat and charcoal on the palate. He gave this taco a 5.5 rating.

Price: 30 pesos (1.5 dlls)
