This Sunday, Baja California's Governor-elect, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda announced three new members of her cabinet, who will be focused on the reception delivery efforts. This was done after analyzing the trajectories and profiles of each of them, and until November 1st they will take office.
Through her social media, the elected governor informed that Kurt Ignacio Honold Morales, Netzahualcóyotl Jáuregui Santillán and Lourdes Cañez Martínez, will occupy, respectively, the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation, the Secretariat of Welfare and the Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of the State.
Kurt Ignacio Honold Morales is a former municipal president of Tijuana and an outstanding business leader from Baja California, representing the productive sector of Tijuana in various ways and occasions, due to his extensive and successful career in the private sector, which has allowed him to know the needs and guiding principles of the local economy.
He is a CPA from Cetys Campus Mexicali, and during the boom of the manufacturing industry in Baja California, he was a manager at Clayton, and then dedicated nine years -between 1991 and 2000- to being the Commercial Director of Grupo Caliente. He has also founded several companies and knows the challenges of keeping them afloat very well. He is currently president of Baja Studios, from where he has managed to position the state as an international film center.
In 2007 he was mayor of Tijuana and undertook a major land registry modernization program, and granted historic support to firefighters, increased police salaries and promoted crime prevention projects in the communities, focusing especially on young people.
In addition, between 2007 and 2019 Honold Morales was president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), due to an extensive experience and influence within the business organizations, from where he promoted important reforms within them, which prevail to this day.
For his part, Netzahualcóyotl Jáuregui Santillán has a degree in accounting from the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), and in addition to being a recognized businessman has been an active and decisive participant within Morena since 2016. It has been precisely his commitment to social causes that has kept him in a party with the principles of Morena and the Fourth Transformation.
He is known for promoting social responsibility schemes in his companies, using such schemes to benefit the neediest groups, and being a character permanently in contact with people, knowing their needs and seeing possibilities of help, making use of the possible resources to improve the lives of others.
In 2018, he was an electoral trainer for polling place representatives, as well as Delegate in the National Congress for the Elective Assembly of candidates for the Presidency of the Republic and Senators, so he was part of the selection process of the current President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as Morenista standard bearer.
During that same year, Jáuregui Santillán coordinated the electoral structure of Federal District 2, which contributed greatly to Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda's victory in the federal election of that year, obtaining a seat in the Chamber of Deputies. In addition, in 2019 he coordinated the campaign of the now Governor-elect to the Municipal Presidency of Mexicali, and, after the triumph, she was appointed Secretary General of the XXIII City Hall. He was also Operational Coordinator in the 2021 election.
While Lourdes Cañez Martínez is an outstanding athlete, teacher and public servant who has stood out for looking after the interests of athletes in an innovative way, which led her to lead the Municipal Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of Mexicali in the twenty-third City Hall of Mexicali, headed by Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda.
Simultaneously, Cañez Martinez studied to become a teacher at the elementary level and to become a Physical Education teacher at the State University of Pedagogical Studies, later studying for a Master's Degree in Sports and Physical Culture Administration at the Manuel Fajardo Institute of Physical Culture in Cuba. She followed with a Doctorate in Pedagogy at the Centro Universitario de Tijuana, and a Post Doctorate in Administration of Educational Institutions, as well as multiple diplomas and courses.
She also has a solid trajectory of more than four decades in the State Education System (SEE), occupying various positions within it, being also a key player in the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) to structure and implement the Curriculum for the Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education 2002. In addition to the above, she participated in the development of programs for the Bachelor's Degree in Physical Activity and Sports at UABC, being named godmother of 22 of the 23 generations that she attended in the classrooms.
With these appointments, the three people are prepared to participate in the transition process, generating work plans and designing a scheme to implement in each of the agencies from November 1, maintaining the premise of the Governor-elect to lead a government that really solves the needs of the people of Baja California.
