The Tourist Merchants of Tijuana A.C., through the Citizen Security Committee of Avenida Revolucion requested the city authorities to reinforce security and sanitation measures from the early hours of September 15 in order to avoid damage to businesses or bystanders with sharp artifacts in accordance with the celebration of Mexico's Independence Day.

The president of Tourist Merchants of Tijuana. A.C., Julián Palombo Saucedo emphasized the events that took place last year where peace and order were disturbed, in addition to the fact that the risk of infections was quite high due to the crowded area.

This request for increased precautionary measures in the tourist avenue of Tijuana's downtown area is due to the fact that last year when these celebrations had been cancelled due to the high rates of COVID-19 infections, all indications from the authorities were ignored and there was a heavy traffic of people on the eve of the celebration, resulting in several damages to businesses.

The main request from the merchants is the application of filters at the different accesses to Avenida Revolucion to prohibit the passage of any person with any object that could be harmful to businesses or attendees such as flagpoles, sticks and pipes, in addition to presenting a series of different demands for this day.
