Through the campaign "Piensalo 2 veces" (Think twice) by the International Organization for Migration, immigrants are encouraged to identify signs of crimes related to labor exploitation as well as false job offers.
Members of the shelters where these immigrants expressed that they have witnessed the injustices committed against them. Alberto Rivera, founder of the "Agape'' Shelter in Tijuana comments that in some places they let them work without any rights and when they are supposed to receive an economic reward such as a Christmas bonus, they are fired for no reason.
Similarly, immigrants who have been victims of labor abuses have shared with the Telemundo 20 portal some of their experiences in the jobs they have worked in, where the lack of severance pay and extended hours without extra pay are some of the problems they have had to go through.
Regarding this issue, the Secretariat of Labor of Baja California comments that they have sanctioned different establishments that have not complied with rules as simple as the data of the registration of immigrant employees. This campaign will be exposed in Tijuana and Tapachula as they are the main entry points to Mexico.
