The Municipal Civil Protection Department and the XXIII City Hall of Tijuana issued a warning regarding an intense heat wave that has been present in the region since yesterday. Temperatures will reach up to 86 degrees Fahrenheit in some areas (30 degrees Celsius) [/b]for which they urged people to take precautions.

With the drastic changes in temperature, some seasonal illnesses may occur an impact on the physical integrity and health of people, especially in minors and older adults.

The head of Civil Protection, Marco Antonio Sánchez Navarro, mentioned that the monitoring of regional weather models and forecasts indicate that, starting this Monday and until Wednesday of this week, due to the development of a high pressure system, clear and warm conditions will be generated in the valleys, while low clouds will gradually reduce in the mornings and evenings on the coasts.

"The warmest days will be recorded during Tuesday and Wednesday, in view of prevailing temperatures between 66 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit (19 to 30 degrees Celsius), to gradually reduce local temperatures for the rest of the week. Based on the information, we do not expect monsoon activity, that is to say, clouds, nor an increase in humidity," the official said.

Sánchez Navarro pointed out that the temperature will reach 86 °F today, with moderate wind, and on Wednesday the same temperature will be registered, with some fog banks at dawn and wind of 10 miles per hour (17 kilometers per hour), in a northwest direction.

Due to the high temperatures prevailing in this border region, it is important that the population follows these recommendations: it is very important to stay hydrated, protect yourself from solar radiation with sunscreen, wear light and loose clothing, use a hat or cap, use an umbrella, do not expose yourself and/or perform activities under the sun from 10:00 to 16:00 hours; as well as not to throw away lit cigarette butts, avoid burning garbage, grass or campfires and keep themselves updated through the official social media.
