With the coronavirus pandemic and the previous mismanagement administration, projects aimed at supporting emerging businesses had been put on hold. However, since changes were made at City Hall and now Tijuana's first female mayor, Karla Ruiz, has taken the lead, this support has been resumed.

In fact, recently, the Municipal Women's Institute (Immujer) created a Women's Promotion Program, through which more than 20 women were trained in administration and sales, as well as in permit regulation.

Part of this included recreational activities for the sons and daughters of these women, at least 17 of whom are heads of household. In addition, various workshops were held, such as storytelling, reading and painting workshops.

Likewise, in order to promote economic reactivation in Tijuana, the municipal government, headed by Mayor Karla Ruiz Macfarland, through the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeti) announced that it will support those who want to start their own business or maintain an established one.

How will the Tijuana City Hall be supporting these people? According to the head of the Secretary of Economic Development of Tijuana (Sedeti), Gabriel Camarena Salinas, it will be through credits and subsidies for people who reside in Tijuana and who "promote the economic development of the city".

As he explained, the intention is to support those entrepreneurs who seek to create a livelihood for themselves and their families. In the same way, it also seeks to support those businesses that are already established.
