The Secretariat of Health (SS) announced, based on the coronavirus report prepared by the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), the number of infections and deaths from COVID-19 accumulated up to Thursday, February 25, which now total 2 million 69 thousand cases and a total of 183 thousand 692 deaths.

In the last 24 hours, 877 deaths caused by the SARS Cov-2 virus and 8 thousand 462 new positive cases were added to the total. Similarly, the coronavirus mortality rate recorded a fourth increase in February, from 8.8% to 8.9%, which means that for every 100 people infected by COVID-19, 8.9 people lose their battle against the virus.

A calculation made by the SS, which takes into account the confirmed infections to date, the percentage of positivity and the epidemiological association, estimates that there are currently more than 2 million 264 thousand 524 cases of coronavirus in the country.

Regarding hospital occupancy in the nation, the SS stated that this parameter remains at 32%, registering a slight decrease of one percentage point compared to last week. As for general beds, these are occupied at 31%, with Mexico City (57%), Puebla (53%) and the State of Mexico (50%) being the only states to exceed 50% of their hospitalization rate.

One million 620 thousand 8 people have recovered from COVID-19, while another 51 thousand 130 are still fighting the battle against the disease.

Mexico continues to occupy the third position in the table of countries with the most deaths caused by the SARS Cov-2 virus, following Brazil, which has already surpassed the figure of 250 thousand deaths, placing it in second place, and the United States at the top of the list with more than 508 thousand deaths.
