Mexico Says Goodbye to Coke Zero and Coca-Cola Life

Coca Cola Mexico will remove these two products.

Coke Zero and Coca-Cola Life will no longer be produced by Coca-Cola Mexico. The company wants to reduce the options of no-calorie beverages and they also want to simplify the option for consumers.

As a replacement, the company will release Coca-Cola non-sugar (sin azúcar, in Spanish), with an official announcement and details about this new beverage will be given next week, according to Expansion.

"They will launch a new variant of the classic Coca-Cola with red label but without sugar. The whole team of Coca-Cola will participate in this". An anonymous source said to Expansion.

According to a study made by the firm KPMG, due to the Special Tax on Special Production (IEPS) in Mexico, (a 1 Mexican peso per liter tax back in 2014) the Mexican consumer has shown new patterns in their consumption of sweetened beverages, with water bottles overtaking regular Coke cans, for example.

Information from Expansion.
