Artist Jason deClaires Taylor decided to share his artwork UNDER THE WATER, and that's why he created a museum that breaks every known way of enjoying sculptures. The Cancun Underwater Museum began operating in Mexico since 2009, located on the coast of Cancun.

deClaires graduated with honors from the Art Institute of London in 1998. Later he became a dive instructor and and underwater naturalist, which took him to dream about an underwater museum.

It was back in 2006 when he created his first exhibition at the West coast of Granada in the West Indies; three years later he co-founded the Underwater Art Museum, which has more than 500 of his sculptures submerged in the water.

The characteristics of deClaires's work are inspired by human transcendency, sea power and its capacity to regenerate. The sculptures are made with materials and designs that foster life, such as long-term concrete with neutral PH, and certain textures for animals to gather and live there.

Jason considers that the "ocean is a wonderful place to exhibit, because natural light games are changing every half hour, as well as sand explosions." With this project he seeks to create social conscience on the preservation of the species and a clean ocean.
